Well done, that's great news! Just back from my UKCAT, it was at 1pm and I got a 735 average More on that here.

Hey brilliant news well done - that's one of the major hurdles out of the way - fantastic score - you shouldn't have any problems getting
an interview with that result! Roll on Sept. to see how I get on.

exciting news

I have the most brilliant, exciting news

I have been accepted this morning at University College Dublin to study medicine starting on 7th Sept.

Can't believe my luck - my A levels and high score in the entrance exam the "HPAT" got me my place. I'm running round with a great big smile
on my face

My work experience at Monklands certainly confirmed for me that medicine is what I want and while I would have liked to go to bonnie Scotland (have become quite attached to the place!) I can't turn this opportunity
down.

But you never know I could be back in the future - will keep you
posted on developments in Dublin - have a lot of packing to do. I had
sort of resigned myself to waiting a year but now it's all systems go.

Good luck to anybody else trying to gain a place - I'll keep my fingers
crossed for you.

Well done - you can start a Ciaran at University College Dublin forum once you get there.

Anyone else had confirmed places?

What do you mean by this. Do you mean we should email Dundee to ask about open days?

It will do absolutely no harm - try "I've been told by some friends who are studying at Dundee that I must come and see the medical school there before I complete my UCAS form. I'd appreciate your sending me a note of any open days you have." No way will that sort of e-mail upset anyone.

When I was at the Dundee open day one of the admissions people was doing a talk and said something along the lines of

"We wan't people who are enthusiastic and want to come to Dundee. Just being here at the open day shows that and it will give you an advantage over the people who didn't bother"

As Elliott said, ask intelligent questions, enquire about open days, basically get your name known! Will take a few minutes and can't hurt!

Ok, I will be sure to email them.

I will only be able to make their open day later in September AFTER my school's own application deadline as the Dundee open day specifically for Medicine is the day after the Aberdeen Open day and it'll be too much travelling. + the Glasgow open day is on the same day as the Dundee open day so it makes sense to go to Glasgow on the 1st September and go to Dundee later.

So, do they actually remember your name if you enquire via email?

I'm pretty sure I went to the later open day too. You have to register to go and they mark you off when you arrive so they know who went!

I dunno, but it'll do no harm! It was quite an interesting open day too. Certainly worthwhile!
