sscs at monklands

hiya
I am going into third year at Dundee and we've already been sent out stuff about SSCs. They aren't til January and May 2007 but the closing date is early October and since I am looking to self propose I've already been thinking about it. Monklands is my local hospital (when i'm at home) and was just wondering if anyone had set up an SSC there before?
Thanks
Naomi

If that's the Dundee version of Glasgow's SSM, then we've had students in several department - A&E, Obs & Gyn, Psychiatry and maybe others.

Thanks for the help, just to clear up: SSC= Student Selected Component, which is 8 weeks of 'self directed learning'. There are some set ones which you can choose by a lottery type system or you can self propose.

I think it's pretty much the same thing, it's just divided up differently. We get 2 four week sessions in January and May, and I'd quite like to organise a 2 week project for May, maybe in A&E. Is there anyone that I can write to about trying to set this up?

We have 3 consultants. In the first instance, write to Dr M. Watt, Consultant in Accident and Emergency Medicine, Monklands Hospital. He'll either deal with it or pass it on to one of his colleagues. If you have problems, drop me a private message here and I'll give you further details of who you can contact to chase things up.
