I knew about this from last week, and it should be a must for me since I come from the same country. The most annoying bit is that I got my maths prelim on the 15th from 9:15-12:15 am :(
I might go on one of the other days, but as far as i know, the 15th is gonna be the best.

if anyone is consdering going and they PM me their mobile number i can try make sure everyone meets up at the start of the march. this isn't as easy as it sounds. when we were in london, 20 of us managed to lose the 250 other people we were with.

Hi I just came back from this amazing perfect march, it's the longest march I've ever seen, it has no begining and no end ( if you know what I mean) it is so impressive, I BET IT'S GONNA DO SOMETHING, just to let you know, the road from glasgow green to SECC is now full of people. I was there since the morning and I had to go back coz I've got work in about half an hour now:bawling:
I obviously couldn't meet Ruth because you it's like you're looking for someone you've not met b4 amongst thousands of people.
I think the march is gonna be on untile a couple of hours later!!!!

Think they got a bit of a shock when the pro-war Iraqi refugees were in the march down at london. Tony Benn was a little lost for words during the press interview with one.

in general the iraqis want the war
they want saddam out too and are starving to death through the sanctions
most dont want their families killed though

Noway,
it depends on what kind of iraqis you met, most of the iraqi islamic parties leaders who iraqis follow in their opinions have said that we should all stand against the war.
I know, we all iraqis want to get rid of him but we do not want to get rid of him by the death of thousands of innocent people.
some ppl sed that the people who've been killed by Sadam since he became a president in 1979 are just are just plenty so the war isn't making any difference since ppl r already dying. and tony blair was kinna using this yesterday to convince ppl about the war but noway, Sadam Hussein CAN be excluded from Iraq and killed in many other ways that America may not support.
I heard that there was gonna be a revolution against him in 1997 the aim was to kill Saddam, I heard that America was supporting it "BUT" America in the night before the revolution was gonna be on, told the iraqi governement about it and WHO was gonna do it, all of the revolutants were taken to the prison and obviously killed later after that night. America said that they just felt that it was not the right time to get rid of Saddam. this is a story that I heard from a man who is the head of MAB ( Muslim Association of Britain), I believe it's a true story.

High ranking officers of the SAS and other armed forces also leaked stories commenting that they had had several opportunities ot assassinate him and thye were told to stand down on many occassions at the last minute.
Several reasons why they probly don't wanna head down that route. 2 most probable ones are that it may make him a martyr and obviously OIL

I don't think Saddam would make much of a martyr. He is a dictator running a secular Islamic regime, rather than a fundamentalist in the Osama Bin Laden mould, and doesn't have enough of a fanatical following for martyrdom.

I didnt mean in that way Pud, by assassinating Saddam without the full backing from most of the other major nations, it would start making some other dictators/communistcountries/non-christian countries very nervous and wouldn't put the US or UK in a very nice position. So in actual fact Saddam would act as a Martyr, besides if he is assassinated whats to say another of his close followers wouldn't just take hold of the reigns anyway???

I know, that's the main problem with the idea that a sniper's bullet is an alternative to war. Saddam has at least two sons who would probably take over, never mind the loyal, elite parts of the Iraqi army who would be unlikely to give up the cause easily. A few strategically placed bombs, however, could avert war altogether. Assassination is not a nice thing, but if Bush is so determined to remove Saddam and the Ba'ath party it may be the only alternative to a bloody war.
