As you know, Ruth has been working hard to produce the website and this is now almost ready for general consumption. What we lack is a good logo. All we have at the moment is the packing cases above, but once we've unpacked after our move we'll be wanting to throw them out and have a shiny new logo.

So, who's good at graphics design? We are now taking submissions from anyone who wants to have a go at designing our new logo. The winner will have their design throughout the site and be entitled to spend a whole week at Monklands. The runner up will get two weeks. No, we're still thinking about prizes (if Elliott has his way, it will involve coffee) but it will be something better than a cuddly toy.

Competition rules are as follows...
Anyone and everyone can enter, no restrictions. You can submit as many designs as you want.
The preferred format for entries is a computer graphics file in .gif format, between 250 and 350 pixels wide and between 100 and 105 pixels tall, sent as e-mail attachments to derek@monklandsnextgen.com
If you can't send an image file but have a great idea for the logo, send a paper copy by snail mail to Elliott at the hospital.
We're not setting a definite closing date yet. Once there are a reasonable number of entries, we'll set a closing date, so the sooner you get your entry in the better.
The judge's decision will be open to discussion and general debate. If there are several good ones, we may even give you the final choice.
Please bear in mind that the logo will need to look good against a purple background. The exact shade of purple if you need it is hex code 800080 or RGB 128,0,128.

Have fun designing.

Stay tuned. There should be a little change to the site in the next 10 minutes or so.

If you can't see the new logo at the top left, click on your browser's refresh button.

Credit for the logo goes to Donald Angus. Thanks Donald. :)

It looks good to me - but if you don't agree, then the competition is still open, I guess. Send your idea to Derek.

It is indeed. Now that we have so many new members, we must have a fair number of expert graphic designers out there.

Please note that the sizes I've given above don't fit very well. Images should be around 150 pixels wide (200 max) and EXACTLY 86 pixels tall.
