Hi

I went to Dundee yesterday for my interview - and was surprised by the fact that not one of the questions i was asked have appeared on this website! My whole interview was based around my current knowledge and background in science through my degree. It felt much more like a science exam than an interview - i had to formulate ideas and opinions on controversial areas of biomedical science - such as gene therapy, and give my opinion on the future of medicine now that we have the Human Genome Project!
    :banghead: :banghead:

Has any other graduate been for an interview and had this?

However, I must say - i found them extremely friendly! Elliot - i took you advice and praised their course!!:)

Having interviewed my 1st batch of a dozen Glasgow hopefuls, I was very conscious that I had to leave all the stuff relating to the teaching of the course to my co-pilot and I asked all those peripheral questions - actually I tried to find out from them (as they were from firth of here - as they say in Scotland about foreigners and those south of Hadrian's wall) if any other hospitals have a work experience scheme similar to ours.

So far, the answer is "no". Everyone who had work experience had found it quite hard to arrange. One difference - none of the medics in the Irish hospitals appeared to try and talk them out of doing medicine - so maybe Ireland is a better place to practice than the UK.

Dnt get me wrong - the questions did relate in one way or another to medicine - but they underpinned the science of medicine. I wonder if the fact that ive worked as a Nursing Auxiliary for 4 and a half years showed them that I have commitment to medicine, and therfore they felt it was maybe more appropriate to see if ive got good problem solving skills, communication skilld and capable of linking my current knowledge with medicine?

oh, bye the way - just remembered - they did ask a question i recognised - "why do you wish to specialise in this area of medicine?"
