Hello!
I have an interview I have an interview! YAY! :surprise:
It is 05 Dec at UEA. Still haven't heard from the others but that's ok. I have an interview!
Anyhoo...
At the end of the interview, when the interviewers ask, "Do you have any questions for us?", is it good to have a question for them? I don't want to come across as uninterested, but I also don't want to ask a gratuitous question.
I'll have to refrain from asking, "So... do I have a place?"
;)

First off, well done, excellent news!!
It feels really good doesn't it?
As for asking questions, I think it would be a good idea. The hard part is choosing the RIGHT question!
My worst fear is that I ask the most ridiculous questions, something like, "so what is PBL?" or "Will I work long hours??"
and I just get laughed at. So I think I'm going to try and come up with something pre-planned........................if I can think of anything!!!!

Well done, my tact was to read up on the course and then ask them something relevant, like prosepects of intercalateds (not very good example but you see what i mean!) or something else, just try and look interested, even if it is just how long will it be before any further corrsepondence?
Hope that helps!

I liked the Devlinators point bout asking something relevant to the particular uni's course. Before you go to the interview, make sure you've taken a good long look at the website as well as the prospectus stuff you've got. Because it changes more frequently it looks better if you can say 'as I was reading recently...' . Also, when you go for your interview, try and talk to some older students, then say 'I was talking to some of the second years earlier and they said.... Will the course still work in this way when I get here or are there any major course changes in the pipeline'. Basically, give the impression that you're not just interested in Medicine, you're intereted in studying THEIR course. You probably knew all this already but... Oh well...

Well Done Meg!....
Erm... I think i would agree with Karyn(Devlinator) on this one!... read the prospectus and u should be able to pick up some good material for a question!...
Pick up on something that is mentioned briefly in the prospectus and make that form your question!...
Be careful not to ask something that is covered in depth in there cause it will appear that you haven't researched their course thoroughly...
Best of Luck!

Yeah Karyn is right. Make them think that their uni is the only one for you. When I was at my interview at Glasgow. I commented on how they seemed to be the only uni who has converted 100% to PBL and I asked how the students taught through PBL compared with the other uni's students once they have qualified. I think there have been 3 qulaified years taught completely by PBL by now. They seemed tolike that question as it gave them the chance to talk about something they knew alot about. Don't ask vague questions but don't ask to generalised ones either.

I've been looking at the Uni's website/prospectus and have decided that if I don't encounter anything in the interview I want to ask about, I'm going to ask about the elective period in the third year. The prospectus only vaguely mentions it and the website doesn't say anything at all, so I figure it is a safe question. I'll be going on a tour earlier in the day, so that may give me some question fodder, too.
Argh! I'm nervous!

Thanks everyone!
I spent a bit of time in the library today reading the papers and trying to make sure I'm up to date on what's going on in the world. Ergh! I'm nervous.

Congratulations on getting an interview!
The best of luck to you, hope it goes well!
I've doing the same as you at the moment - researching issues in the media relevant to medicine - for my interviews.
