Ok, I'm looking for some work for the summer and although I could do the usual working in a store, I'd much rather do some hospital based work, so does anyone know anything about how I'd go about getting into this sort of work or who to contact? I was considering maybe being an auxiliary nurse or likewise but my friend tried to get into it before and she said it took a while. Any help would be great.

Thanks x

hey, whats wrong with working in a store? besides, arent you already accepted into st. andrews anyways, so work experience is not necessary now? :p

take something that you'll enjoy and that pays decently :)

that's strange - the system usually blocks two posts it "thinks" are identical - I have trouble putting in two similar polls about under age patients and the OC pill and had to alter the wording of the second one to get it accepted.

I've done it also, it most definitely bites: each time I closed my eyes I had to think of pound signs just to stop me from quitting :D

hi, i was accepted for Bankaid, which is kinda like auxiliary nursing (or maybe the same...), recently which i start when i come back from my trip this summer, although you have to get some formal training first. PM me if you're interested and i'll give you the contact details.

How long ago did you apply for that? Do you know how often you will be working?

I'm trying (and failing) to get a summer job at the moment as well-i already have a job waitressing for a couple of shifts a week but I spend all (well most) of that on CDs and my driving lessons.

you're never under any obligation to work, i think yhou just have to fulfil a certain number of hours, but the hours are really negotiable.

Do you have to be a certain age? Are there any other restrictions/rules/requirements?

you need to get a disclosure done, have a full history of immunisations and i think you just need to be 16 because i'm only 16 and am not 17 'til November.

Wow-I just went on that site out of interest-it all looks so interesting. It has placements in Bolivia (I really want to go to South America for some reason.)

When do you go to India?

well i've raised quite a lot of money through sponsorship, so it's easied the financial burden a bit.
