Okay okay.... my name is Faye and I am a Buffy fan :D

Actually, it is from that episode where Dawn says it, but she says it because that's what Buffy said to her before she sacrificed (sounded better than killed!) herself at the end of season five.

I didn't realise there were other Buffy people here, so that's why I winked at the end of it, to see if anyone would notice :p

I loved Buffy! i have ALL of them on DVD. it was such a good show and i don't care what anyone says. My favourite seasons were 5 and 7. The last episode was my favourite, it was great!!!!

i'm that way with friends (all the dvds etc). but with the recent birth of the OC i'm finding it hard to choose between both my children!

Well thanks Iain, I gratefully accept :p

Stephen, my favourite is season 4, it was just so different, they were getting more mature, growing up, but not quite as serious as the other seasons. Maybe we should have a Buffy day! ;)

I think we should curb the buffiness now, we'll get shouted at for talking about it in this thread, although feel free to start a new one!

Good good. A new thread.

I liked season 4, but to be honest i didn't think it was the best. it went too far into james bond territory for my liking. season 5 and 7 were better and more interesting to me because they really got back to the magical roots of the show. Season 4 with the initiative and adam all that were too sci-fi for my liking. That's not to say that there were no good episodes in season 4 - the episodes "hush" and "restless" were fantastic!

Who was your favourite character? i think that mine was probably anya towards the end because she was so literal and sarcastic - hilarious!

*i'll shut up now* *and yes, i do know i'm a geek*

in the early seasons of buffy (back in the days of bbc2 airing the brand new episodes) there was this episode about this virus that children got and there was this invisible monster guy who was a bit like a cross between freddy cruger, the childcatcher and jimmy saville. he was the scariest guy ever. i had nightmares for weeks. anyone have a similar experience? :o

or we could just scrap the buffy talk about discuss how horrific the child catcher is?... anyone for a bit of that?

davidr
24th October, 2004, 6:05 PM
i frequently have jimmy saville related nightmares

Stephen
24th October, 2004, 9:11 PM
I'm so sad I know that that monster was called "der kinderstod" or something like that and it means "child death" as it killed children. It was in an episode called "killed by death" late on in season 2.

i remember it wasn't that scary on the tv because the BBC showed buffy at 6:45 and all the scary bits were cut out of it. When i saw it on DVD it wasn't cut and was rather gruesomesince the eyes came out of the monster and burrowed into children's foreheads. Nice!

spike and xander are the best.
i'm the only person i know to actually scream due to the horror factor of some episodes.

Buffy was best when Angel was still in it. I loved "Becoming" (Both parts)- This signifies exactly how sad I am!

Angel was great aswell when the spin off started but it went a bit wierd in the end.

I suddenly realised the other day that I must be getting old. All of the programmes I watched as a teenager have finished and I'm left with only Charmed and ER to cling to!

I loved Quantum Leap- Poor Sam, he never did make it home in the end...

Its always good to have a bit of TV nostalgia!

I'm the same, but i've found new shows too. i like smallville and six feet under (of course!), The OC and though i will probably get a slagging for it - the simple life. I think it's hilarious! Last week they were on a nudest camp - that's comedy right there!

also - couldn't watch the OC last night because of the torrential rain - gutted.

er is the ultimate best tv show ever. love it! sad that they're axing corday! i have the theme tune as my ring tone :) how much do you just love abby. i honestly had no sympathy for romano when he died - karma etc. but that was a top quality episode. i've never seen ER dvds, anyone know where you can get them?

the last episode of the OC was excellent, love the story line with July Cooper and and Luke - a good bit of scandal. new one on tonight, woohoo.

I never watched Buffy....but I was an avid Xfiles fan until Mulder died for the fortieth time! I kinda stopped watching it when it lost the plot, round about the 5th series. Gillian Anderson could kick buffy's ass anyday!

I didn't know they were axing Corday from ER?! Noooooo! Teachers starts back again tomorrow....finally something decent on the TV again!!!

Well, I agree Anya was a brilliant character - her one liners were brilliant (when she was describing Giles' friend Olivia in Hush, for instance!). Although, I have to say Buffy was my favourite character, simply because she was Buffy :p She wasn't the brightest in school (although she got good SAT scores :) ) but she was always an achiever, and had to go through normal teenage angst. That's why it was such a good show - it wasn't about vampires and demons, they represented all the main issues in teenagers lives. It was actually a deep show, and so many people just refused to watch it because of the name!

*rant over*

Does anyone else watch 24? It's such an underrated program, I still can't believe the beeb axed it :)

Faye

Stephen

I don't think the bbc axed it, it was stolen by sky one. i like 24, but since i missed season 3 i've kinda lost track of it.

I liked Buffy too, it was quite hard to pick my favourite character though. Anya was class as i said before. i'm so pleased you understood the show too. Practically all my friends were like "why would i want to watch a show about vampires and monsters" because they clearly didn't get the fact that tv can have metaphors for normal life situations.

Also - last night paris and nicole worked in a sausage factory, classy!

Faye
26th October, 2004, 10:38 AM
No! They did axe it, and then Sky picked up the rights to all the future seasons. Last season was good, I won't tell you what happens though cause it was brilliant: it was like she's going to die, phew she's not then oh no she is! :p

Is your last comment about the Simple Life? I watched some of the first season, but I don't have Sky so I miss out :( Och well, there's more to life than tv...isn't there?

relliott
26th October, 2004, 11:48 AM
speaking of buying rights, it's going to take me a while to get used to simpsons on channel 4 and not BBC2

I know the simpsons with adverts!!!!

How good is da OC?! I love dat show! Its out on DVD as well, so i just need some money..... Cant wait till ER starts back, oh and does anyone else like scrubs?!

Friends and sex and the city, over!!!! :bawling:

relliott
26th October, 2004, 2:51 PM
scrubs is the only thing that cheers me up on the way out the door in the morning for super-early ward rounds :) hurrah for B4!

iain_261188
26th October, 2004, 7:08 PM
i wasn't a fan of scrubs. they tried too hard to be funny. friends and er are the best shows ever made but i'm thinking the OC is a contender these days. similar to the OC is One Tree Hill, anyone watch that? i can't miss that either.

fact about e4 and the oc. the new season is actually only the second part of season 1! i bought season 1 on dvd and it has all the new episodes on it - and some that haven't been aired on e4, shocking.

the simple life is good but i think nicole is totally the star of the show. i liked when she caleld room service and was like 'this room is disgusting' - they're smarter than they look.

as far as sex and the city, it's okkkkk... i'd watch it if there was nothing better on but some of the jokes aren't funny - whereas others make me laugh out loud, it's kinda hit or miss but i think it's funnier to women.

anyone like My Wife and Kids? ''uhhhhhh nuh...''

do i watch too much tv? my pockets hurt.

And I have to say, I've just discovered the OC! I've only seen 5 eps of this season, and am working my way through the first on DVD, so I can get a little confused, but it's soooo good!
