maybe NextGen is just one big experiment, then.

maybe NextGen is just one big experiment, then.
it was suggested, when we set up the NextGen site, that having a group of folk who were interested in you and your career would have a positive effect on the pass rate. So this could be a long term experiment to see if NextGeners have a better chance of succeeding than lesser mortals.
When I contacted Glasgow Uni to see if NextGeners (and maybe others with work experience) responded differently in their psychometric tests, it led to the link from the med school gla.ac.uk site to NextGen.com and to my joining the admissions commitee - which was not my predicted outcomes of that part of the experiment.

thats actually a really good idea, we should do a longitudnal study of the careers of nextgenners.
that would be really good.
incidentally were there any differences between nextgenners and everyone else at psycometric tests?

I never got to find out - if the truth be told, I was being devious (never!) and trying tofind an excuse to give Glasgow a list of NExtGeners to make certain they all got Glasgow interviews! That led to a famous meeting of the admission's dean and a certain young lady from Cote du Bridge who gave it to her straight - and then got invited for interview a short time later, as I recall.
That in turn led to my being invited to join the admission's committee - somehting about poachers and game keepers comes to mind, here.
I always wanted to have an influence on the medical profession of the future - so maybe I am that mad scientist!

Yeah that is true-only that certain young girl had alkready had an interview a couple of days before and was pretty sure after that meeting that they wouldnt get in!

How do you define a NextGener? I like to think of myself as one, but I don't think I fill the criteria :bawling:

It's a bit difficult to say - I don't think you have to had work experience at Monklands because many NextGen regulars haven't been able to make the pilgrimage.
I guess that if you think of yourself as being one, then you are one! You certainly have the "NextGen" rating which gives you maximum access to the site.
Can't think of any criteria you don't fit - so you must be one.

Dare i ask, why are u fighting with staff nurses?

i couldnt get a couple of bloods (very difficult veins) despite my best efforts and the nurse has been giving me hassle for a couple of weeks and i just slightly lost my temper and told her that it wasnt my fault and got into a ten minute 'discussion' over the finer points of her and the wards behaviour.
perhaps not the best idea in the world, but havnt had any word from my supervisor so i guess she didnt make a complaint!
