Hi there every1!

Ive booked a place for the MEDISIX medical conferece at Nottingham University in April this year. Its designed basically to inform people interested in doing medicine about all aspects of medicine: general practice, the different fields etc and is mainly in the form of lectures. Its main aim is to give you a better chance of getting in to medicine.

I was just wondering if any of you have been to one of these medical conferences and if they are worth while.

Thanks,

Jason Thomson

I found that most of the things I went to were alright. They were very informative and probably worthwhile to go to even to only let you say "I went to ...........". I thought they told me a lot of what I already knew though, although the "so you want to be a doctor" confrence was definatley worthwhile, even though i was a year older than almost everybody. You got to play about with some equipment etc and it was a lot more useful than most other confrences. Just depends who is doing the talking I think. Still if there are any confrences on you should go to them cause if all else fails you get a day off school and its good to blether with other folk wanting to be doctors.

The one in Glasgow (don't know the title) filled up really quickly and I was unable to get a place, even though my school had sent for tickets months in advance. So if you are going to any, apply quickly!

quite a few of the candidates I've interviewed for Glasgow have been to conferences like this and they certainly give the impression that it was worth while - although they would say that at interview, wouldn't they!

Please take lots of notes and write something up for NextGen when you get back - and anyone else who's been to one - how about a report here?
