This post is primarily for Elliott but thought i'd put it on here so everyone can benefit

I was speaking to a nice auxilliary today in A&E who told me they are going to be recruiting for bank nurses in October. She said they're really good because they fit you in only the hours you can work plus the pays really good (well, for someone like me anyway)

I know lots you have already done this and i'd like to also. THink it would be really goo experience. Boys&Girls!!!!!

So, do you know how i can find out more about this?

Hey guys (non-gender specific!), just wondering if anyone can tell me where the auxilliary (?) nursing positions will be advertised, or whether it's just a matter of contacting the hospital's HR department. Pretty clueless about this "nurse bank" business if truth be told. Anyone care to bestow their wisdom upon me? Many thanks,

A

Bank nursing is great experience and I recommend it if you want to work to earn money during the summer and also get valuable experience from this perspective of hospital life. The hours I worked were very flexible and I could work as much as 70 hours a week if I wanted to or contrary to that take the week off! The pay is actually quite good (must be high 5GBP - sorry no pound sign on this computer - these days) and if you work Saturday or Sunday it is time and one third/two thirds respectively. Downside: 7am start if you're day shift, which can be tough if you're working intermittently.

I havent heard anything about recruiting because the Bank apparently has just taken on 30 new folk and the ever so wise hospital management are cutting the hours wards can use bank staff!

But, then again what do I know, I am a lowly auxiliary, lol

Phone the hospital [01236 748748] and ask for Michelle Bell, she is the BankAide admininistrator.

ETA: Basic pay is £5.7014 an hour, time and a third for sats and nights, time and two thirds for sundays and bank holidays. Plus on top of your wage every week, is added 8.33% annual leave supplement. You can work as little or as much as you want [availability depending of course], and can fit around your social/uni life. And of course gets you involved with patient care, something you WILL lose at the end of uni.....:p

Why can't you edit more than once??

01236 713325 should be the number, that one ^ is the hospital switchboard.

and to correct my appalling spelling of administrator...

i started the process of bankaide recruitment but dropped out after I saw them in action on my work experience. I decided to get a nice office job with First Direct instead!
