Hey everyone,
If anyone has any ideas about further work experience which would benefit a career in medicine I'd be happy for any advice or e-mails.
Thanks,
Adam

Hi Adam,
I noticed you were from Airdrie - that's where I'm from! What a coincidence lol. I live(d) just behind the hospital.
All I can say about work experience is make sure you have done work experience in a certain area before you put it on your personal statement incase they ask you about it at an interview.
There are loads of things you can do really - a once went to paediatrics to see what it was like from that perspective. Nothing much was happening all day but it is interesting to see what children are like as patients.
Have fun!

Thanks for the advice Damien I know a few people who live in that area. I had a very interesting offer regarding work experience from the Blood Donation Nurse team. Who told me that they are currently looking for volunteers to assist during summer months etc. Especially those interested in becoming medical students or actual medical students themselves. It could prove worthwhile to check it out.

that sounds a great idea - see if you can get the details and post them here - i'm sure they could use several volunteers and this is just the place to recruit them!

watch it, young lady! Remember, RealD revealed my secret: I'm English and the English know how to deal with traitors: they have lots of experience, because they have lots. As Mark Twaine said, the traitors gate in the Tower of London is wide enough to march them in 10 abreast!

With a stunning grasp of this new technology, I appear to have pressed the <new thread> button instead of <post reply> so my reply to the comment above is now on a new thread called "good ideas are made for sharing".
By the way, if anyone is trying to send a private message (pm) to Nicola, you can't just now, because her mail box is full.
You need to tidy up your mail box every now and then - that includes deleting the <sent> messages and that button is in a scroll down menu. You also need to delete the pm monitoring section and your received mail.

Before clicking the delete button, you need to tick the check boxes of the messages you want to delete.
