Hi, I am going to be 1st year med student come September.
However, I wanted to know what are the recommended textbooks for the covered modules?
I thought if i read around before, i'll find it more easy to focus in lectures, where my attention levels seem to waver frquently.

The following modules are studied:

Cells 1, 2 and biological molecules

Cardiovascular and respiratory systems

Renal system

Nutrition and energy

Individuals and populations

Which ones would you recommend?

Thanks for your help

if you just want to do a bit of background reading then i'd recomend the mosby crash course books for the cardiovascular, respiratory, renal systems adn nutrition and energy as they're really straightforward to understand and give the main points you need to know, and i've found them useful in 1st year.

Cheers bro. Which Uni are you based at?

Are these books available at waterstones.

Also, does anybody have any other recommendations?

Crash Course books are definitely good, available in pretty much any bookshop that stocks medical texts.
Also, try Davidson's Principles and Practice of Medicine - its a good general textbook that you'll need at some point anyway and the newer editions have a systems overview at the beginnning of each chapter. :coffee:

I've done around five pages of colouring!!!

you learn loads really quickly and it tells you a little about the things you're colouring

I'm using the anatomy coloring book by kapit and elson, I've taken the advice of people in the forum of not going too far, you could really get bogged down!!!
