Hey, I'm going on a group visit tomorrow to see the GP. I was wondering about the type of Questions to ask. I know the obvious ones, for instance:

What is your daily routine? Patients seen per day/week? Patients on file?

I was wondering would you ppl list otheres you can think of, which will impress my group as well seniors and the doctor himself.

Fire away ppl

How about being a GP compared to a hospital doctor - the variety of patients seen, more/less communication involved? Maybe why they decided to go into general practice? If they think they get to know their patients better?

And of course the classic: 'What do you think makes a good doctor?' We had to ask that soo many times in our Primary Care Medicine course.

what's the most important part of communication?

a list of the top 10 conditions from which patients die has very few items which are the same as the top 10 conditions which bring patients to see their GP. Is that because GPs are so successful in treating their patients, or because they spend most their time seeing unimportant conditions?

It's a good point El.as sometimes ppl ask irrelevant questions

Try a few for future reference to your own career:

What made you choose to be a GP?
Did you intercalate?
How many in your class went on to be GPs?
How often are you on-call?
If given the chance to choose again would you have picked differently?

Should I start off with an appropriate question first off..if so what kind?

OR, shall i fire straight at the deep end

Hey remember the GPs just an ordinary person, you aint interrogating them ;) Just have a general chat with them, they are likely to be very friendly.

no-one should get annoyed at anyone who is genuinely interested. Don't sound as if you are trying to find reasons to NOT be a GP
