Hi there everybody (doesn't that make me sound like the doctor in the simpsons?) haven't used the site much but i intend to use it more often.

I am in my final year at Strathclyde Uni where i am studying Sport & Exercise Science. I then plan to go on to study medicine either at Glasgow, Dundee, Newcastle or Peninsula. However, feedback from these institutions has promted me to enrol in an elective chemistry class ("introduction to forensic science"). As my chemistry knowledge is lacking i would appreciate any help that could be given by any of you able students ;)

So be prepared for some silly questions in the near future.

I am about to finish my summer job at Wishaw General, which is phlebotomy in the morning and then diabetes work in Biochemistry. All very repetitive and quite boring after a while :o

Finally, i will be applying to the medschools mentioned earlier at the beggining of October, so any advice on completing the UCAS form is greatly appreciated.

P.S. Elliott if u read this thanks for setting up the job at Wishaw, the experience i have gained has been great.

Cheers for now

Hi
I am quite surpised that you will have to that module. My impression of Problem Based learning was about being 'chucked in the deep in'. I suppose it is not as bad as the St Andrews university, we need to do anatomy, biochemistry, physiology and psychology in the first two years ( our PBLS occurs when we hit manchester).
One piece of advice on interviews, if you ever get a question like ' are you good with your hands?', don't refer back to a biology module which you really hated. At my interview, I replied ' yes I had to dissect a dog fish in animal biology.'. They then asked
'what cranial nerves did you see in the fish and how many does it have?'
Good luck in applying
